A Value System for Action |
In order to understand action, it is important also to consider the value system that govern all actions. This applies to the actions of individuals and the organizations that perform them. Values drive behavior and thus influence the choices of actions.
Values can be derived from a variety of sources including cultural, social and religious practices; local, state, national and international laws; and regulations and norms that arise as a means of influence and control. |
However, it is difficult to form a universal value system based on any one of these sources because they changes with time, place and setting. As a result, values that dictate a “right” or “purposeful ” action at one time or place may lead to a “wrong” or “purposeless” action at another.
Although it is not possible to entirely eliminate such variability, a value system that is relevant and that applies to time, space and setting has great appeal. The Framework for Purposeful Action, which is described in this web site and explained in detail in the many resources listed, provides one such value system. You can apply this system to all your actions immediately, to achieve success and fulfillment in your personal as well as your professional life.
